I’m very excited to announce that I’m going to be releasing a solo EP on July 20, 2010. It’s different from anything I’ve ever done with My Favorite Highway, but it’s still what you have come to expect from me as a songwriter. I don’t usually write love songs, but all of the songs on this record are love songs. It’s all based on acoustic guitar, and the lyrics are very honest and exposed. These are probably some of the most poetic and beautiful songs I’ve ever written. Vocally, it’s much more soulful than anything else I’ve ever done before. The idea was that I wanted to write a record that wasn’t based on piano because I usually write all of my songs on piano, so I made a rule that I could only write these songs on acoustic guitar. There aren’t any drums on the EP, instead I used other creative elements to give the songs rhythm and movement. It’s a very creative record and I am very, very proud of it.

However, the first 500 people to pre-order the EP will receive an exclusive digital download of the record on July 1, 2010, three weeks prior to the official release date. The first 300 people to pre-order the EP will also receive a signed poster. I am going to personalize and sign every pre-ordered EP before it ships.
